BATLEY Boys face their most important league game of the season when they stage the top-two clash against Old Church Tavern at Halifax Road on Saturday (kick-off 2.30pm).
The visitors from Pontefract are two points ahead of the Boys at the top of Yorkshire League Division One. The Batley side have a game in hand but the Tavern have a slightly superior points difference, so it couldn't be much closer.
The Boys won 24-
16 at the Tavern in January and if they complete the double they will really throw the title chase into the melting pot.
Victory for Tavern will see them clinch the title while a win for the Boys will mean they are promoted and then need just a point from their final game to take the crown.
The Boys could lose on Saturday and still be promoted if third-placed Dewsbury Moor fail to win at Kinsley Raiders, who only lost by a point at Church Tavern last Saturday.
Birstall Victoria have no game this weekend but can sit back knowing they only need a point to make sure of the Yorkshire League Division Two title.
The Vic took a step nearer the title last weekend when Normanton A were beaten by Doncaster Toll Bar. Normanton's only remaining fixture is at home to the Vic.
Shaw Cross Sharks A meet second-placed York Acorn A in Division Three at Leeds Road.
