COOKING tips were shared in a spicy community event.
Women from Wilton Estate and Carlinghow have been regularly meeting women from Mount Pleasant – whose children attend Hyrstmount School – over the last two years, forging a bond between two Batley communities. In the latest event the group of about 30 got together to make Indian food, including fresh chapatis, chicken tikka masala, poppadoms and rice at Carlinghow Children's Centre.
At a previous event members checked out English cuisine.
Hyrstmount learning mentor Jenny Charlton said: "Everybody loved the food. It was a lovely social event.
"It's been going for two years and some good friendships have been made.
"People who would not necessarily have formed friendships before have found they have a lot in common."
A number of events have been held for the group over the last two years, including bowling and meals.
The mums will be meeting again, with their kids, in the middle of August for a social event at Oakwell Hall.
