A SUMMER of sport was the topical theme for a fun day in Batley.
Youngsters flocked to the Central Children's Centre for an afternoon of games and activities with a sporting theme – making the most of Team GB's Olympic success.

The session was one of a series of fun days taking place at children's centres throughout Batley and Birstall.

Youngsters aged up to 12 enjoyed sports such as basketball, hoopla and racing games.

And the string of events was celebrated in Batley Market Place with a special challenge for the young people who had to get 'passports' stamped for taking part in specific activities.

Jeeve Bains of the Children's Centre said: "The sporting theme was ideal with all that was happening at the Olympics. The children had a really good time."
